Shaken Massager: Deep Comfort and Support, Right Where You Need It

What it is

The Shaken Massager is a cordless, rechargeable massager that you wear. Two cupped massage heads, joined by a hinge, sit against your skin. A wide, soft strap, about 9 cm high, holds them in place with hook-and-loop ends.

Two strap lengths come in the box. Between them they fit waists from about 60 cm up to 150 cm and you can join both straps together for a wider girth.

What it feels like

Switch it on and you’ll notice three sensations working together:

• A gentle ripple. It’s the same feeling many people notice under their feet on the Tera-P90. That’s the PEMF at work.
• A soothing vibration through both cups.
• A slow, circling massage. The two cups turn in opposite directions, one clockwise and one anticlockwise, a little like two hands working either side of a knot.

Underneath it all, a deep, comfortable warmth builds. It ranges from about 38°C on the lowest level to 42°C on the highest.

Support where you need it

• Across your back. Wear it over your lower back when it feels stiff or tired. Slide it higher or lower to follow the tension.
• Across your tummy. Turn it around so the cups sit over your abdomen. One practitioner we spoke with uses the Shaken Massager to support clients with digestive discomfort. Another uses it for body sculpting.
• Lying down. If a strap doesn’t suit you, lie back and rest the massager on your body, with the strap ends weighted down on either side.

Warmth and gentle movement over the lower tummy is a familiar comfort for many women with period cramps.

Intelligent Sonic Technology for Body Sculpting

The Shaken Massager utilises CellBreak™ Cell Disruption technology. As described by OlyLife, this precisely and intelligently targets the subcutaneous lipid layer 10-20mm below the surface of the skin. It employs high frequency resonance (1Mhz) to precisely induce resonant dissociation from adipocyte membranes and catalyses the breakdown of lipids. High frequency vibration stimulates the contraction of the waist and abdominal muscles, compressing fat cells. Thermal penetration awakens abdominal tissues and cells, promoting blood circulation and accelerating fat metabolism.

Things to know before you buy

The Shaken Massager isn’t for everyone. The manual rules it out for people with a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, thrombosis, severe varicose veins, skin inflammation or infection. It also isn’t for pregnant women or women who have recently given birth. Don’t use it within 40 minutes before or after a meal or for more than 30 minutes at a time. (Sessions are set at 20 minutes.)
